The Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. As part of the celebrations, they have organized a whole-hog food fair of its own. “Souk” is an arab word for “open-air marketplace”, and the eating scene down in the Quartier des Spectacles is indeed bustling and a bit chaotic, just like a gathering of food-lovers should be.
If you haven’t been there yet, you have until this Saturday to check it out. From a luxurious Lobster Club to a monkeytail (banana on a stick dipped in chocolate), from tangy pulled-pork sandwiches to octopus pancakes, from flammekueche, an Alsatian pizza-like tart, to maple cotton candies, the choice is hard, but I am sure you will have an evening of takeout delights.
